Joining a church is not like joining a club or gym. It involves discernment and thought, time and prayer.
For some, the process means letting go of beloved previous fellowships. For others, it means wrestling with painful memories of bad church experiences.  In every case, though, it means considering the activity of the Spirit of God in your life. As Presbyterians, we believe we are never very good at this when attempted completely by ourselves. We believe we can help you in that process.

The pastor leads the new member courses for three successive weeks that are open for visitors, new members and old members alike. We address the nature of Presbyterian churches, life and faith at First Presbyterian, and the spiritual process of connecting to a church family. Visitors do not have to participate in the class to become a member, though most find the course helpful.  By the same token, the course doesn’t mandate that you become a member. Membership is your decision. Contact the church office or check the calendar for the next session. Whether or not you participate, the pastor is always open to meet and discuss life and faith with you.
